Best books- Explore your spirituality

Hey ya’ll!

I’m really just wanting to give an update on what I’ve been trying lately. I want to talk about the books I’ve been reading first!

The first book I picked up that really got my creative juices flowing and my brain working on what I wanted to try next was called Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert. The same author that wrote Eat, Pray, Love authored this amazing book that will make you believe you can do anything you set your mind to. Gilbert really pumps you full of magical ideas, theories, and opportunities. It is truly inspiring. I found it so witty, full of anecdotes, and just overall empowering. If this book doesn’t leave you wanting to go create something, anything of your own, you need to read it again!

The next book I picked up was called The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz. This book really became my bible there for awhile. I should definitely pick it again soon to reread. This short book will make you question everything you grew up knowing. It truly changed my thought process and the way I live my life. This Toltec wisdom can guide you through anything in your life. They are simple, yet tough to embrace rules to live by. I will never be the same after reading this book. It is a life changer.

My most recent read is a book called The Soul Searcher’s handbook: The Modern Girl’s Guide To The New Age World by Emma Mildon. This book has truly set my spiritual journey into motion. Before now, I was wondering aimlessly through articles about crystals, apps regarding moon changes, random yoga classes, and meditations from Spotify. This book has guided me through each and every aspect I have wanted to discover. Mildon gives thorough details and adds a personal touch to every chapter. Mildon knows what she is talking about and can really get you started navigating the spiritual realm. She covers a wide variety of topics in an easy to read and understand format. I would say this is a must- read!

I purchased The Crystal Bible by Judy Hall a few days ago, and so far I’m loving it! This book is smallish in size, but it does the trick! I have been post marking the sections with crystals I own on it to keep track of my collection and for an easy referral when I want to use them. Hall gives you the most important info on the crystals. This book also contains information on the background of crystals, ways to use them, and the varieties that crystals come in. A great book to have on hand for anyone who utilizes (or just likes to look at) crystals!

I am currently working on the book The Modern Guide To Witchcraft: Your Complete Guide To Witches, Covens, And Spells by Skye Alexander. I’m really enjoying this book because I just generally love to learn about different aspects of spirituality. There are seriously SO many! The thing I love about spirituality is that it doesn’t just encompass one thing – it can encompass however many things you want it to! If you just want to meditate once a week – so be it! If you want to cast a spell the guy in the apartment across the hall hoping he may fall for you – so be it! It’s doing what feels right to you, and sits well with your soul. Anyway – this book really tapped into my curiosity. It’s super informative and easy to follow. This book would be great for people like me who generally just want to learn about witchcraft, and don’t necessarily want to practice. But who knows, maybe I will put spells and potions into my routine!

Beginning the journey into my soul

Hey everyone!

I wanted my first post to really explain the purpose of my blog and how I decided to take on a spiritual journey!

Ever since I was very young, I have always questioned the universe. I grew up a Christian with strong morals, so I didn't wander far from my beliefs. The first time I can remember learning anything about spirituality is when I came across a wiccan web page online in middle school. I was so intrigued, but my brain reminded me not to stray. As I visited new places, met new people, and moved away from my tiny hometown to college, I realized that there was so much in this world that I didn't know about! It blew my mind! In college I continued to be a devout Christian. I attended bible studies, church, and belonged to a Christian group on campus. It was not until I went through a horrible time in my life that I began to question my own beliefs. I was also taking a sociology class at the time that really kept me on my toes and gave me so many new ideas to think about. Quick side note- I do want to say that I have no issue at all with those on a religious path. Christianity just wasn't for me. Church just wasn't for me. But it is for a lot of people, and that's great! Spirituality takes so many forms and takes place everywhere! My specific journey to my spirituality just didn't include religion. Anyway! Whilst going through this hard time, I looked deep into myself to muster up the strength to continue on with my life. I used every iota of power inside my body to keep going. So soon after I began to heal from this event, I looked back marveling at my strength. I realized that everything I needed was right inside me. It was then that I discovered my soul.

I began to play with the idea that I don't need religion in my life to be spiritual and feel that I have some higher purpose. I came to a conclusion that somehow all religions and spiritual practices are connected. It doesn't matter if you are a Christian, Jew, Hindu, Buddhist, or you worship the Flying Spaghetti Monster (google it, you'll be glad you did!) We all have ways of connecting the universe with ourselves and making our soul happy! Some of us mediate while holding crystals, and others listen to a preacher in church. We are all searching for the same thing.

As a junior in college I took a yoga class. This was when my spirituality really took off. I learned how to meditate and be alone with myself. I learned how to bend my body in ways that made it so unbelievably happy. I can remember being 11 or 12 and placing a folded blanket on the floor of our dining room in front of a huge window letting in sun. I sat down cross-legged and did what I thought was mediating. This probably meant I sat there really hot in front of a window thinking about boys. I've had this spiritual inkling inside me all along just waiting to come out!

So now here I am diving deeper than ever into my spirituality. I'm doing more than just yoga, buying pretty crystals, and diffusing random essential oils. I'm using my crystals to heal and bring energy, my essential oils to heal and bring out certain moods, and I'm meditating for long periods of time digging deep into my soul. I'm reading more than ever trying to learn as much as I can about chakras, auras, mudras, spirit guides, and moon cycles. AND I WANT TO SHARE IT WITH YOU!! I'm so excited to begin this blog. I really hope to connect with many of you who are in the same boat. I want to share my trials and tribulations. I want to read yours as well.

Diving in soul first!
